Augmented reality on the iPhone 3GS

Take a look, I really like the way the app turned out.

My concern as with all of these iPhone apps is that while they are very slick, they also run afoul of Apple’s “no linking to private frameworks” rules. For the technical folks out there, mine and other apps like it make use of the private CameraController.framework. Then it’s just a matter of establishing your current location and the array of other points on a map. Once you have that data, you calculate the bearing to those points relative to your heading (gotten from the iPhone compass) and move stuff around on screen. PRETTY SIMPLE RIGHT?

I guess we’ll see if one of these apps makes it into the store. I’m not submitting mine for the obvious reasons.

BUT if you want to try one of the apps that uses this tech, send me a tweet (@chews) and ask!
