Boxee, Hulu, TV - Eff YOU.
I was reading techcrunch today and I see that boxee got some press! Unfortunately the article told us that boxee would be forced into pulling support for Hulu. I am a fan of both and this really saddened me at first, then I got angry… “hulk smash” angry. So to the “content providers” I say the following:
Dear NBC / Fox,
You guys make it easy to hate you and I’m not talking about the normal kind of “fist waving” hate I’m used to either. I’m talking about the hate that causes me to actively think about ways to screw you. So you might be asking, what caused this recent fountain of anger towards you? The decision to have hulu do your dirty work and ask the nice people at boxee to pull their support for your streams.
So, let me get this straight. You create a site to share that FUCKING GARBAGE CONTENT THAT YOU CALL TV and when people create new and creative ways to show your shit, you ask them to stop because it’s not happening in a web browser… on a computer? It’s not like the ads are getting stripped. So, what is a talented engineer with access to a hacked appletv going to do?
If your guess was to go out and get some sort if linear TV service like cable, iptv, or dish… well you would be sadly mistaken.
No, I plan on spending hours of engineering time on my evenings and weekends to ensure that I NEVER PAY FOR CONTENT AGAIN.
Here is my plan:
- Take a Western Digital World Edition NAS and get the root password using this guide. - DONE
- Once the NAS is hacked, I’ll install Transmission the fantastic BitTorrent client on it. - DONE
- Write a snarky blog post about why TV sucks and what I’m going to do to change that - DONE
- Use a site like TV Rss to start downloading the shows that I like as they come out, COMMERCIAL FREE. - Doing it tonite
Content Providers, I hate you.
-Chris
